Biography
Kryštof Marek (born in 1967) - A contemporary composer, conductor, pianist, arranger and songwriter; he has been active since the late 1980’s in many musical and theatrical projects in the widest variety of genres. He collaborates with symphony orchestras across the Czech republic, with which he presents his own creative work. In 2012 it was the violin concerto Key to the Gardens, which he wrote for Gabriela Demeterová. In 2014 there were three premieres of his original compositions: the concerto for English horn Heart of the Gardens with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra , a Cycle of 12 symphonic songs with the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic and the piano concerto Gateway to the Gardens with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. He recorded his extensive inter-genre composition Sinael Jazz Symphony with the same orchestra. In 2016 he premiered his composition Midnight Pictures – a vocal jazz suite. In last 5 years he premiered 5 contemporary classic compositions during celebrations NAVALIS in Prague: in 2016 – Mysterium of st. John of Nepomuk, in 2017 – T.A.C.V.I., in 2018 – Venezia di San Giovanni Nepomuceno, in 2020 - Oratio Sancti Ioannis Nepomuceni pro salute mundi and in 2021 - St. John's Bells. He cooperates closely with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. He is a regular guest at the Prague Proms International Music Festival. He collaborates with the Studio DVA theatre company, for which he created the music and wrote song lyrics for performances: A Christmas Carol, Little Girl – a Christmas story and very original musical performance A Little Prince with one actor. He has created more than 40 musical dramatizations for Czech Radio. He has released numerous CDs.
