Biography

Francisco Hinojosa, with 49-year-old Mexican composer. His music has been performed in various forums at national and international festivals, such as: Morelia International Organ Festival, Miguel Bernal Jiménez International Festival, National Book Festival, Latin American Song Festival in Las Vegas, USA, International Festival in the Old First Church in San Francisco, USA. 1996-1997, winner of the CONACULTA (Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes) scholarship in the category of "Jóvenes Creadores" (Young Creators). 1999, completed a composition master class with Antón García Abril and Maximino Zumalave with a international scholarship to study "Sinfonísmo y Música Nueva" in the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. 2004, completed a composition master class with Brouce Broughton (Walt Disney composer) in San Francisco Conservatory, USA. 2004, first place in the American Art Song Competition for Composers, in San Francisco, USA, as the best artistic song (Lied) "Mis Ojos Sin Tus Ojos". 1997, completed a composition master class with Donald Martino (Pulitzer prize) at the Conservatorio de las Rosas. 1993-1999, for six years Hinojosa studied with Dr. Emil Awad (Harvard graduate) at the Conservatorio de las Rosas. He studied musical composition with others teachers, such as: Anthony K. Brant, David Lidov, Arturo Márquez, Hilda Paredes, Manuel de Elías, Juan Trigos, Mario Lavista and José Saldaña, among others. In the pedagogical work environment, for 35 years ago Hinojosa has been computer science teacher and computer programmer, and music teacher with children and adolescents in schools. 2002 to today, founder and teacher of singing, piano and music composition at LIPROM (Laboratorio de Investigación y Producción Musical). 2008-2009, teacher in music theory, harmony and counterpoint at Facultad Popular de Bellas Artes and Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia.

With more than 20 years of experience singing in choirs and soloists in different genres and styles of music, such as: gregorian chant, polyphonic, sacred, zarzuela, folk, rock&pop and regional Mexican. 1993-1999 singing as a tenor in choirs, such as polyphonic choir “Miguel Bernal Jiménez”, and “Luis Berber”, beside belonging to the Schola Cantorum (Gregorian Chant) of the Conservatorio de las Rosas and at the University of Veracruz. 1991-1997, I was a Tenor in the polyphonic Jesús Carreño chorus at the Conservatorio de las Rosas.  In 2002-2006, well as prepared the voice soloists and choir for "A chorus line", "Cats", and "The Phantom of the Opera". 2006-2012, as singer were recorded at the Conservatorio de las Rosas two CD’s in Gregoriant Chant, and Mexican Colonial music. 2005, as a singer I performed the role of the “King Herod’s Song" in Jesus-Christ Super Star. 2012, Soloist finalist with a Honorific Mention, in the Song Festival of Las Vegas, USA. Summer 2012-2014, Choral director of the evangelist church HOREB in Morelia. Spring 2014, GÉNESIS price to the best artistic develoment in Morelia.  Nowadays, as a personal project I am composing my own lyrics and music for Mariachi. I’ve had a scholarship as a Tenor-voice of the polyphonic choir of the Secretaria de Cultura de Michoacán, Mexico. Singer and pianist of “HIROS Rock Project”, recording a CD with 12 songs of my own creation. Recently, I am studying vocal performance with Debora Ocaranza Díaz Barriga (mezzo-soprano in Morelia), Mario Marín (tenor in Mexico city), and Juan Carlos Navarro-Cobián (tenor in Austria). My voice have had opportunities in different editions of  International Music Festivals. 2002-2006, singing and musical production teacher, as well as in soloists’ assembling and musical choir at CECA (Centro de Estudios y Capacitación Artística) Morelia.

Hinojosa finished and is earning a Bachelor of Music degree with a specialty in Composition at the at Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo.
